Transcenta, WuXi Biologics Sign HiCB Licensing Deal

WuXi Biologics gains non-exclusive access to selected HiCB platform technologies.

Transcenta Therapeutics and its subsidiary HJB have signed a technology licensing and strategic collaboration agreement with WuXi Biologics. The deal gives WuXi Biologics and its affiliates a non-exclusive license to selected technologies from Transcenta’s Highly Intensified Continuous Bioprocessing (HiCB) platform and ExcelPro cell culture media.

Transcenta will receive an upfront payment of RMB 10 million ($1.49 million) and could receive additional milestone payments if agreed conditions are met. WuXi Biologics will also become Transcenta’s strategic partner for CMC development and will support molecules across Transcenta’s pipeline.

HiCB combines intensified continuous perfusion upstream processing with hybrid continuous downstream purification. Transcenta says the platform can boost productivity versus conventional fed-batch processes while maintaining quality through shorter residence times and optimized culture conditions. It is designed to lower cost of goods and capital investment, enable agile just-in-time production, and improve recovery yield and product quality for complex biologics.

The collaboration advances Transcenta’s strategy to expand partnerships for HiCB, address CMC challenges in complex biologics, and create a more flexible path to scaling production capacity. Transcenta said it will continue pursuing external licensing and industry partnerships to unlock the platform’s commercial value.
